  1. How do I register a clean-up?

    Click the ‘Register Today!’ button at the top of this page or call (902) 396-1495. Before you register try to have an idea of how many people will be participating and what area you plan to clean up.

  2. How do I dispose of the garbage I’ve collected?

    Dumpsters will be placed in communities across Pictou County on Saturday, April 22nd for the community clean up.

    Bags of litter collected during the week (April 22-27) can be distributed amongst participants and added to your regular bi-weekly garbage collection. If you have collected or are planning to collect large amounts of litter please contact us at (902) 396-1495 to arrange pick up.

  3. Do we have to separate recyclables from regular garbage during our clean-up?

    Yes. Blue bags are provided to all clean-up participants, and any clean materials that are recyclable in Pictou County should be placed in a blue bag for collection.

    Additionally, any refundables found during the clean-up can be collected and returned to a depot for a monetary refund.

  4. Where can I pick-up my supplies?

    Supplies can be picked up at the Pictou County Solid Waste Administration building located at 220 Landfill Rd, Mount William. Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM.

    *Please note: Pre-registration is required prior to picking up supplies at the office

  5. What if I want to do a clean-up during a different time of year?

    Visit NS Pick Me Up to register a clean-up during a different time of year than Go Clean Get Green.

  6. I don’t need supplies. Do I still need to register?

    Yes! There is a space on the form to indicate whether you need supplies or not. We ask that everyone register whether they need supplies or not so that we know how many people are participating in the event.

  7. I’m looking for a group to join for Community Clean-Up Day; what should I do?

    Contact your town or councillor for your area to inquire about a community day clean-up.

  8. Where should I clean-up?

    When choosing a clean-up location, ensure it is safe for you and your group. Clean-ups can happen in your neighbourhood, beaches, parks, trails and more. For a list of ‘litter hot spots’ click here.
